Today, Sunday: 30/1/2022 AD, a contribution agreement was signed between the Arab Gulf Program for Development – AGFUND, the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen and the Selah Foundation for Development to implement a project to use multi-sector renewable energy to improve the quality of life in five Yemeni governorates (Hadramout – Abyan – Lahj – Taiz Hodeidah)
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal, President of the Arab Gulf Program for Development – AGFUND, His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed Saeed Al Jaber, General Supervisor of the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, and Mr. Ali Hassan Bashmakh, Executive Director of the Silah Foundation for Development.
His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz expressed his happiness at meeting representatives of the SDRPY and Sila Foundation for Development and launching a promising development cooperation with AGFUND for the benefit of the brotherly Yemeni people.
His Highness said that the project “Using Renewable Energy Systems to Improve the Quality of Life in Yemen” lays the foundation for a qualitative infrastructure that is needed now, especially to solve crises and deal with emergencies to meet the necessary needs. development.
The ambassador added: We are meeting today to sign a tripartite contribution agreement for a project to use renewable energy to improve the quality of life in 5 Yemeni governorates, where the project will use clean energy to provide drinking water, agricultural irrigation water, lighting public facilities and lighting homes, in an effort to improve services in vital sectors, and improve the lives of Yemeni citizens. And to contribute – with God’s help – to the development of infrastructure and the improvement of basic services inside Yemen.
The Executive Director of Selah Foundation for Development, Mr. Ali Hassan Bashmakh, indicated that the project aims to improve access to electric energy in rural areas and cities within the Republic of Yemen and benefit from its services in renewable sectors using solar energy.
The project includes the implementation of 200 solar energy systems in four areas (water, sustainable agriculture, health and educational facilities, and home lighting), where 12 solar systems will be implemented to operate drinking water wells, 35 solar systems for agricultural irrigation, 20 systems to operate health and educational facilities, and 133 systems Solar panels for lighting the homes of poor and destitute families.
It is worth noting that the Selah Foundation for Development received the Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development – AGFUND for its project entitled (Using solar energy systems to operate drinking water wells).
